The hotel is perfectly positioned nearby Buckingham Palace and Mayfair and just a short walk to London’s famous landmarks. Although in the heart of the capital, it’s tucked away from the crowds of the city life. Entering through a wrought iron gate to Taj51 Buckingham Gate and Suites, we found ourselves in the relaxed and tranquil surroundings. We were warmly greeted with a glass of champagne in the Shakespearean Courtyard. This property used to be home for the Lords and Ladies of the Royal Court. The hotel comprises three Victorian townhouses – Kings, Minsters, Falconers, Presidential, Jaguar and the glamorous world Cinema suite, each distinctly designed offering one, two and three luxury bedroom suites, with their own kitchen and living area.
Visiting during the Christmas period was the cherry on the cake: there was a magical ambience resonating throughout the entire hotel. We stayed in the Minster suite, featuring a king bed and luxurious bathroom and our own personal butler service!
On our second day, we had the opportunity to try their award-winning Alice in Wonderland themed afternoon tea at the Kona restaurant. This was hands down our best afternoon tea experience in the heart of London. They had beautifully crafted pastries and mouth-watering finger sandwiches and savoury treats. Each table was delightfully decorated with the Queen of Hearts playing cards and themed with Sir John Tenniel’s original book illustrations.
